Le Havre 1 - 5 Paris Saint Germain: Hakimi takes over as PSG turn scare into statement
Paris Saint Germain left Stade Océane on 30 October with the points, the momentum, and a clear message to the rest of Ligue 1. Final score: Le Havre 1 - 5 Paris Saint Germain.
It did not start like a routine away win. Le Havre, bottom of the table and desperate for oxygen, struck first in the 18th minute through Josh Maja, assisted by Rayan Fofana. For eight minutes, D. Digard had the match he wanted: compact shape, direct threat, and enough aggression in transition to make PSG uncomfortable.
Then Achraf Hakimi changed the match.
Mika Godts equalised in the 26th minute, assisted by Hakimi. Two minutes later, Hakimi scored in the 28th minute, from a Senny Mayulu assist, with the goal confirmed after VAR in the 30th minute. From there, PSG were not just ahead. They were in control.
Hakimi scored again in the 55th minute, Mayulu added another in the 62nd minute from Hakimi’s assist, and Hakimi completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute. Three goals, two assists, five shots on target, and 71 minutes turned an early problem into a rout.
The match turned on Hakimi’s right side
Luis Enrique set PSG up in a 4-3-3, with M. Safonov in goal, A. Hakimi, I. Zabarnyi, L. Hernández and L. Digne across the back, W. Zaïre-Emery, M. Akliouche and Pedro Fernández in midfield, and Ferran Torres, Senny Mayulu and M. Godts up front.
Le Havre started in a 3-4-2-1 under D. Digard: A. Bodart in goal, A. Seko, J. Mwanga and A. Touba in defence, D. Ouziad, S. Ebonog, A. Richardson and M. Ndiaye across midfield, with R. Fofana and S. Nakamura behind J. Maja.
That Le Havre shape initially did its job. The back three gave them numbers around Maja, while Fofana’s running gave PSG something to track. The first goal in the 18th minute, Maja from Fofana’s assist, reflected that early clarity.
But PSG’s response was ruthless. Hakimi kept arriving high from right-back, Godts gave PSG width and threat, and Mayulu found the spaces between Le Havre’s defensive and midfield lines. The equaliser in the 26th minute came from that connection, Hakimi assisting Godts. The second in the 28th minute came from Mayulu setting up Hakimi. Once those two goals landed so quickly, Le Havre’s defensive plan began to stretch.
This was the crucial detail: PSG did not need chaos. They had the ball, 71 percent possession, and the patience to move Le Havre until the gaps appeared. Hakimi provided the acceleration. Mayulu provided the link. Godts gave the first punch.
Le Havre had chances, but PSG had control
The scoreline looks brutal, and it was. Still, Le Havre were not without threat. Their 2.04 expected goals, 14 total shots and 5 shots on goal show they did enough to trouble PSG.
Maja was the best of their attackers, scoring once, taking two shots, winning four of six duels and remaining a reference point even when the game moved away from the home side. Fofana mattered too: he assisted the opener, attempted eight dribbles, won seven of 14 duels and drew three fouls before being replaced in the 79th minute.
D. Ouziad also deserves mention. In a match where Le Havre had only 29 percent possession, he still produced five key passes, made five tackles and blocked two shots. That is not cosmetic work. That is resistance.
But PSG had more finish, more volume in possession, and more certainty in the key moments. Safonov made four saves, while A. Bodart made five at the other end. The difference was not just who created. It was who punished.

Changes from the bench
Luis Enrique made the first move in the 63rd minute, sending on Beraldo for M. Akliouche. By then PSG were 4-1 up and managing the match.
D. Digard made three substitutions in the 65th minute: M. Samatta replaced S. Nakamura, E. Koffi Vinette replaced A. Richardson, and R. Ndiaye replaced M. Ndiaye. But Hakimi’s third goal in the 69th minute killed any idea of a late Le Havre push.
PSG then protected legs in the 71st minute, with Quentin Ndjantou Mbitcha replacing M. Godts and D. Boly replacing A. Hakimi. Le Havre later sent on Hakim Dongopandji for R. Fofana in the 79th minute, and D. Mosengo for S. Ebonog in the 83rd minute.
What it means
Paris Saint Germain move on with 20 points from 9 matches, top of Ligue 1, with 6 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. Their league form now reads WWWWW, and this was the kind of away win title challengers bank without apology.
Le Havre remain 18th, with 2 points from 9 matches, no wins, and a form line of LLLLL. The concern for D. Digard is not only the defeat, but the speed with which the match escaped them after leading.
For PSG, the headline is obvious: Hakimi delivered an elite attacking performance from defence. For Ligue 1, the wider message is just as clear. The league leaders are not waiting for the table to settle. They are already applying pressure.
Next, attention shifts to the chasing pack and to Marseille’s response, with OM still trying to close ground from ninth before their own test. Read more here: Marseille Face Velodrome Pressure as Toulouse Come to Test Their Nerve.
